Immediate Action Needed If:

Options When More Help is Needed

In-Home Care Aides

Help with daily tasks while they stay home. Can range from a few hours to 24/7 care.

Adult Day Programs

Supervised care and activities during the day. Gives caregivers a break.

Assisted Living

Apartment-style living with meals, activities, and staff available 24/7.

Memory Care

Specialized assisted living for dementia with secure environment and trained staff.

Skilled Nursing Facility

For complex medical needs requiring nursing care around the clock.

Family Care Team

Divide responsibilities among siblings or relatives with clear schedules.

Having the Conversation

Start with observations, not conclusions: "I've noticed you're having trouble with..." Not "You need to move." Involve them in decisions when possible. Focus on their safety and quality of life, not just convenience. This is hard for everyone.
